| Tango
Timing (International
Tango):slow, slow, quick, quick, slow or
"walk,
walk, walk, side, step" Originating
in the Ghetto's of Argentina, the Tango is incredibly
sexy, However aside from
"Hernando's
Hide away" there has never been a truly popular tango
song..('Don't cry for me Argentina' is a tango but
not of the typical sense). |

Steps: [left

The
Tango is a smooth Latin dance, the step animated to
the right is the International style and is danced as
a *Heel Lead (unlike
*Argentine tango) The
basic step is simple, three forward steps then a side
step However this dance has a challenging *rhythm
and timing. The feel of the Tango is an acquired
feel.
With the Tango you must move with assurance yet move
softly. Begin by flexing into your knees, in other words,
don't stand with locked knees. Relax your toes and feel
every step roll off of each foot. For a more accurate

Tango
Realtime Tempo
The timing may appear to change
very little. The first 2 steps are taken very slowly, but
you'll notice the 3rd step has a bit of a push as well as
the side step. Finally the closing step will slow again. |

Left
Turn
This
step will turn you to the left one quarter way around the
room. Notice that all 3 steps turn slightly. This is done
simply by turning your shoulders as you make those steps.
You will not be able to make the whole turn in one step so
don't fixate on how much you are turning. Take it slow and
work your way up to it. If you hardly turn after all 3 steps
it is better than over turning it because your partner probably
won't be able to follow if you overturn. When you dance it,
make sure to keep flexed knees. |
